- VOLLURE XC
- VOLBELLA XC

Q: Are dermal fillers safe?
A: All dermal fillers we use at La Jolla Cosmetic Medical Spa are safe and FDA-approved. Allergic reactions to dermal fillers are rare, and serious complications from the procedure are uncommon when injections are performed by an experienced, qualified provider. Hyaluronic acid fillers, including those made by Juvéderm and Restylane, are reversible in the rare event of poor cosmetic results.
Q: How do I decide which filler to get?
A: Each filler has specific features that make it ideal for treating certain areas of the face. Some are better for smoothing fine lines on delicate skin, while others work best for plumping the lips, enhancing cheeks, or treating deep creases in the nasolabial folds. The only way to be sure you’re getting the right filler for you is to consult with a qualified aesthetic medical provider who can evaluate your skin, review your health history, and prescribe a filler based on your aesthetic needs and goals.
Q: What should I do prior to my filler procedure?
A: Patients are advised to avoid medications that could increase bruising, such as aspirin non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), Vitamin E, and fish oil, for several days prior to treatment. We’ve also put together this quick list of things to do before and after an injectables treatment.
Q: Do filler injections hurt?
A: Pain is dependent on the person and area of the face being treated. A topical numbing cream will be applied prior to the procedure and ice will be given post-procedure. All dermal fillers are mixed with lidocaine to create a more comfortable experience.
Enjoy pain-free dermal filler injections at LJCMS: add PRO-NOX™ to your treatment
Every patient deserves a comfortable experience, so we now offer an add-on option to use PRO-NOX™ during all injectable filler treatments.
What is PRO-NOX™?
PRO-NOX™ is a self-administered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) system that allows you to be in full control of your comfort. If at any point you feel you need something to take the edge off, simply breathe through the PRO-NOX™ mouthpiece for instant relief from pain and anxiety.
Unlike oral pain medication, PRO-NOX™ takes effect in seconds, but these effects wear off minutes after your treatment, leaving no trace of the chemical in your body. You can safely drive and return to your normal routine without worrying about side effects.
Ask us about adding PRO-NOX™ to your treatment at your consultation, or contact us for more information!
Q: Is there any downtime?
A: Mild bruising and swelling can occur for the first 3-5 days. Patients may apply makeup immediately after the procedure and can resume normal activities. Most patients do not feel they need any social downtime.
Q: How long do the effects last?
A: Results of most dermal fillers last about 6-12 months. There are a couple of fillers (e.g., VOLUMA, VOLLURE, and Sculptra) that can last 18 months to 2 years or longer.
Results are seen immediately, and take about 1 to 2 weeks to fully “settle in” (although you will look great immediately). The exception is Sculptra, which works by prompting natural collagen production, and requires about 3 months for full results to be seen. Subsequent treatments may be needed to achieve full correction and maintain desired outcomes.
